The Myotonic Dystrophy Foundation (MDF) is introducing a new program to support innovative research in myotonic dystrophy. The MDF will award two postdoctoral research fellowships in 2008, each providing two years of support for $50,000 per year. One of the goals of the MDF is to stimulate research that is closely aligned with its core mission: to lead and mobilize resources toward effective management, treatment and a cure for myotonic dystrophy through education, advocacy, and research.
The MDF announces the solicitation for fellowship applications and will consider proposals for clinical, basic or applied research in any of the following areas:
- Pathogenesis of myotonic dystrophy
- Studies of disease progression that are necessary steps toward therapeutic trials
- Best practices and clinical management of myotonic dystrophy
- Therapeutic and diagnostic development
Applicants must have received a PhD, MD, or DO degree from an accredited domestic or foreign institution. Research supported by this award must be carried out in the United States. U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or foreign nationals with appropriate visa are eligible for these awards.
